Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Boynes, 56, of Riverdale, New York, entered eternal rest on August 30, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on September 6, 1969, in the Bronx to Nora and Harry Boynes, Liz brought warmth, kindness, and generosity to all who knew her. She attended Visitation Elementary School, St. Barnabas High School, and W.R. Grace Business School, and went on to build a meaningful career in human resources, including her role as Director of HR Systems and Resources at the Child Mind Institute.
Liz had a gift for capturing life’s special moments. An avid photographer, she could always be counted on to document family gatherings, celebrations, and important events. Many often said her pictures were better than the professionals’. She especially enjoyed visiting Wave Hill, where she would stroll through the gardens with her camera in hand.
Music, travel, and sports also brought Liz great joy. She was a devoted Barry Manilow fan and traveled near and far to attend his shows with her sister and travel partner, Cathy. She loved traditional Irish music, Broadway shows, cheering on the Mets and Rangers, and spending time at Citi Field and Madison Square Garden.
Liz was preceded in death by her father, Harry, in 2006. She is survived by her mother, Nora; her twin sister, Catherine; and her brothers, Kenneth (Kerry), Thomas (Anne Marie), and William. She was a loving aunt to Colleen (Omar) Bencosme, Erin (Rodane) Robinson, Patrick, Bridget, Sean, Grace, Ryan, and Jack, and a loving great-aunt to Rory Robinson.
Liz also loved her dogs, Missy, Ivory, and Trixie. She will be remembered as a devoted friend, a loving family member, and a deeply generous person who always puts the needs of others before her own. Her kindness, humor, and selflessness will remain with all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Liz’s name to the American Cancer Society.
