Louise Emelia Burton

September 19, 2026 Jeffrey Wiecek

January 17, 1939 ~ September 11, 2026

Mrs. Louise Emelia Burton, née Adolphus, was born in Belize, British Honduras on 17 January 1939. She graduated from Belize Teachers’ College and became a greatly respected and widely admired teacher at Belize Baptist School.

After migrating to New York with her son and daughter to join her husband in 1969, she dedicated her attentions to the exceptional care of her family, raising two sons and two daughters over the years, and later earning professional credentials to work at the medical office of Dr. A. Daniel Hauser, MD as a highly versatile and valued Medical Assistant until her retirement.

Our Dearly Beloved Matriarch is predeceased by her parents Mr. Roddie Adolphus and Mrs. Sadie Adolphus, née Flowers; her many uncles, aunts, cousins, lifelong friends, and even students; and her devoted daughter-in-law Christina Chunjai Lee Burton (Stuart) and son-in-law Abdolrahim Abdolmajid Marvdashti (Carla).

She is survived by Abraham A. A. Burton and their children Carla; Stuart, with Kasha Muszynska; Abraham, Jr., with wife Kristi; and Denise; grandchildren Stuart, Jr. and Isabel (Stuart, Sr.) and Aminah and Darien (Abraham, Jr.); great-grandson Aja McFarlane-Sweeney (Aminah); her adoring sister and brother-in-law Joan and Sidney Flowers; nieces Dawn and Sherette, née Flowers, with their respective spouses Stephen Thompson and Robert Constant as well as their children Anisa Thompson (Dawn); and Rob, Jr. and Saniyah Constant (Sherette); nieces Cynthia Mathurin and Glenice Thompson-Pittman along with their wonderful families; the Lee, Fervil, Nicholes, Marvdashti, and Fraser families… as well as so very many other deeply caring relatives, friends, and individuals all across The Americas, Europe, and Asia who have, for all the years that she lived, embraced with their whole hearts Mrs. Louise Burton as their eternal friend and cherished second mother and grandmother.

A Commemoration Service will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 3:30 PM at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave.
