Thomas Downey passed away on May 31, 2025 after a long illness. He was born November 17,1935 to James and Catherine Downey. He had 2 brothers James and Robert. He joined the Navy in 1952 and served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956.

He was married to Maureen Sullivan and had 3 children with her John, Patrica Cartwright (husband Timmy) and William (wife Alicia). They share 7 grandchildren Tara (husband Michael), Joseph (wife Emily), Ryan, Shane, Tristin, Danielle, and Ally. They also have 4 great grandchildren, Jack, Sean, Quinn and Henry.

He worked in the Pipers Kilt from 1964 until 2000 when he retired. He was a bartender and later a manager. He loved bartending and all the friends he made.

He always enjoyed boating with friends and family and he loved going to Florida for the winter and enjoyed all the happy hours.

A wake will be held Thursday, June 5th at Riverdale on Hudson Funeral Home at 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY 10571, from 4pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at St. Margaret of Cortona, 6000 Riverdale Ave, Bronx NY 10571, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne NY.
