Alfredo Rene Del Rio, Sr.

Alfredo Rene Del Rio, Sr., age 73, passed away on December 11, 2025.

Alfredo was a warm and loving man whose life was shaped by curiosity, movement, and deep pride in his roots. Born in Valparaíso, Chile, he carried his love for his homeland with him wherever he went. Known affectionately within his family as “Alfredo De Las Aguas,” he was drawn to the sea and to the wider world beyond it.

As a young man, Alfredo left Chile with a desire to travel and experience the world, journeying to places including Italy, Spain, and Egypt. He worked aboard commercial ships that carried goods across the globe, a life that reflected both his adventurous spirit and strong work ethic.

Alfredo enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including a fondness for soccer and enduring loyalty to his beloved team, Los Wanderers.

He shared 43 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Olivia Del Rio. He is survived by his children, Sherlyn Del Rio and Alfredo Del Rio Jr.; his three cherished grandsons; his two sisters; two nieces; and one nephew, all of whom will remember him with deep love and affection.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, December 21st, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY 10471. Committal will be private.
