Marcia Halleran Reidy

September 27, 2024 Jeffrey Wiecek

Marcia Halleran Reidy, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt, passed away on September 27, 2024, the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul, surrounded by her eight living children. She will be dearly, dearly missed.

Born and raised in midtown Manhattan, she attended Notre Dame School, Convent of the Sacred Heart and Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline, Mass. In New York she met and married Bill Reidy, owner of Reidys’ Cafe on East 54th Street, and moved to the beautiful Bronx. They spent many happy, memory-filled years on West 232 Street (exit 19) and Brighton Avenue in Spring Lake, N.J. (exit 98).

A devoted friend, mother and grandmother, she never missed a birthday, a feast day or a holiday, or any chance to write a note or send a gift. For many years she volunteered at St. Gabriel’s School in the Bronx and Mt. Pleasant Blythedale School in Valhalla, N.Y., two places close to her heart. She is survived by eight children, Tim (Kim), Bill (Jennifer), Anne (Tim) Sullivan, Marcia (Dan) Barrio, Owen (Maureen), Michael (Lauren), Conor, and Gavin (Molly); fifteen, going on sixteen, grandchildren, Katherine, Tricia, Danny, Will, Elizabeth, Patrick, Sam, Luke, Maren, Timothy, Mairead, Jack, Eileen, Theresa, and Owen Jr.; and three siblings, Julia Donahue, Florence Ricca and Arthur J. Halleran, Jr. She is predeceased by her husband Bill and her son Niall.

Visiting hours from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home in the Bronx, October 2. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel’s in the Bronx at 11am, October 3. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mt Pleasant Blythedale School, Valhalla, N.Y.
