Joseph S. Schultz

Joe passed away after a long illness on Friday, February 26, 2021.  He is survived by his wife, Cathy, of 43 years.  He is also survived by his two brothers, Vincent Schultz and Robert Barry.  He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Barbara McLees.  He was an Uncle to three nieces - Suzanne, Barbara Jean and Lori; and two nephews - Vincent and James, who all adored him.  He is also a Great Uncle to seven great nephews – Vincent, Will, Johnathan, Nathan, Steven, Matty and Quintin and a Great Uncle to five great nieces – Jamie, Chole, Isabella, Madelyn and Scarlett.  Joe also leaves behind a number of cousins to cherish his memory.

He was a resident of Riverdale for over 44 years and leaves behind many friends and acquaintances.  Joe served in the Army's 1st Calvary Division during the Vietnam War.  He received a Bronze Star and two Purple Heart awards.  Joe liked sports and betting on sports.  He was also great at sports trivia.  He liked classic movies, something that he inherited from his mother. 

Reposing Tuesday, March 2nd 12:00-3:00 at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx, NY 10471.  Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, March 3rd, 9:45 a.m. is at St. Margaret of Cortona Church with interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s name to the American Lung Association https://www.action.lung.org/site/Donation
