Daniel V. Lenahan, Jr.

Daniel V Lenahan, 63, of New York, NY entered into eternal rest, after a long illness on February 18, 2017, at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. He was born in Riverdale, New York on June 26, 1953, as one of five children of the late Daniel V. and Georgiana (Williams) Lenahan.

Daniel served for 32 years as the Resident Manager of Battery Pointe Condominium, New York, NY.  During his time there, lifelong friendships were made by way of staff and residents alike. Daniel was deeply impacted by his first-hand experiences of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and subsequent9/11 attacks, and as a result, he became heavily involved in the community and was an active member of NYC CERT for many years.

Daniel's love knew no boundaries or assignments in this life, he was guided by an incredible heart and motivated by compassion and generosity. Giving to his loved one's is what brought him utmost joy and fulfillment.   He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed rooting for his NY Giants.  He devoted his time coaching his grandson’s sports teams, and his home became the “second home” to many of the kids who lived in the neighborhood.  Annual golfing trips to Sunny Hill Golf Course, weekend getaways in the country, traveling to Florida and trips abroad with loved ones brought him tremendous joy and fulfillment.

He was a brilliant man- he was strong, he was judicious, and always had something of value to contribute. He was the most serious man one could encounter, but equivocally the funniest. He was extremely gentle, yet fiercely strong.  Daniel was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was an uncle, gruncle, and cousin; but mostly he was your best friend. As we move forward without him, we will all carry a piece of him inside of ourselves, because his life, his love, strength and endurance will forever be engrained into our character.

“It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, grandparents and grandchildren.”  – Johann Schiller
