Fr. Robert J. Duane on February 28, 2017 at the age of 90. A resident of St. Patrick's Home for the last 5 years following his stay at the Cardinal O'Connor residence in Riverdale, NY. Fr. Duane was born February 8, 1927 to William and Marion, an only child who from the early age of 8 had an extreme interest in meteorology and had his very own barometer and equipment. Fr. Duane grew up on the east side of Manhattan. He was ordained on May 30, 1953. Father's parishes included St. Mary's (Poughkeepsie, NY) , St. Agnes (Kingston, NY), St. John's (Mahopac, NY), pastor at St. Gregory's and taught science at Cardinal Hayes High School. Fr. Robert's love for the weather included a daily report to the channel 7 Eyewitness news. Known as "Bob" to his close friends, he is described as a "gentleman" that was loved by many. Fr. Duane is survived by his cousin Roxanne Telesha and dear friend, Fr. Gerard DiSenso. Reposing Sunday 3-7 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, NY.
