Christos “Chris” Papanayotou, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Chris was born on September 2, 1955, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to the late Nelly and Costa Papanayotou. A devoted husband and spirited entrepreneur, Chris dedicated many years to both the furniture and restaurant businesses, in Canada and Florida. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, and as most people knew, he loved to dance—a joy that brought light to every gathering.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Catherine (nee McGlynn); son, Alexandre; daughter, Cristelle; sister: Victoria Lucia and her husband, Crispino; niece: Andria, (Andrew) and nephews, Jason (Jennifer) and Justin (Stephanie). He was predeceased by his beloved parents.
Chris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His warmth, generosity, and zest for life touched countless hearts and will be remembered always.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS
A wake will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, New York on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Monday, February 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 10 Mill Road, New Rochelle, NY. Chris will then be laid to rest next to his beautiful in-laws: Anne and Raymond McGlynn at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne NY.
