In Loving Memory of Mirna "Mimi" Ramos
October 18th, 1937 - January 19th, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mirna “Mimi” Ramos on January 19, 2026, at the age of 88, with her two daughters lovingly by her side.
Mimi was born on October 18, 1937, in Santiago, a small town in the province of El Oriente, Cuba. She immigrated to the United States when she was 18 years old, leaving behind her beloved homeland due to the tyrannical dictatorship of Fidel Castro.
Mimi met the love of her life, Octavio C. Ramos, also a Cuban immigrant who was granted political asylum by the United States. They were married on October 26, 1962, and settled in Washington Heights, where they built a beautiful life together and raised their two loving daughters.
Mimi was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an avid practicing Christian and proudly served as a Deaconess at her church for many years. She shared nearly 60 years of marriage with her beloved husband until his passing on October 10, 2022. She is survived by her cherished daughters, Lorraine Ramos-Rodriguez and Lorna Ramos-Morel; her son-in-law, Richard Morel; her beloved grandchildren, Amanda Morel, Jared Morel, and Christopher Rodriguez; her dear brother, Reinaldo Gongora, and his wife, Eneida Gongora; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30th , from 2:00–6:00 PM, at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, Mirna "Mimi" Ramos
Burial will take place at 11:30 am on January 31 at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Rd, Hartsdale, NY 10530. Family and friends will depart from Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home (Mirna "Mimi" Ramos) and proceed via a car funeral procession to the cemetery.
The family respectfully requests that flowers not be sent to the funeral home. Face masks will be provided and are required for all visitors, as Mimi’s daughter, Lorraine, is a recent heart and double lung transplant recipient.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Mimi’s memory to Samaritan’s Purse, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Make a Wish.
