Maureen Maher was born February 13th, 1959 to Philip Brady and Mary Kavanaugh Brady. She was the fifth child of six children in total, and spent much of her childhood and young adulthood in assisting her mother with her household business in the care of the elderly at her family residence of Riverdale, New York. On September 17th, 1979, she married Patrick Maher in London, England after a celebration with her close family in Kerry, Ireland.
Maureen when on to achieve a college degree in accounting from Manhattan College, and had a successful career in accounting and finance in the field of nursing homes. She was a devoted, loving mother to three children, who are survived by her. Her daughter Siobhan Maher, Meagan Maher, and Ashley Maher, as well as her granddaughter, Alice Maher.
Though she was stricken with illness at the young age of forty, Maureen was ever tolerant, patient, kind, and nurturing to all those that had the privilege to know her. Maureen was a fantastic storyteller and chronicled many of her life experiences in dealing with chronic pain and loss. Putting family first, she always believed that her children were her greatest accomplishments in life. Maureen passed from this world on September 21st, 2025 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania at the age of sixty-six years old. Her funeral will be held in Riverdale, New York, where she afterwards will be placed at rest beside her husband at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
A wake will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home on Friday, September 26th from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian of Burial will be offered at St. Margaret of Cortona Church at 10:45 am. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
