John was the beloved brother of Peter and the spouse of the late Christine VanOostrom.

He was the stepfather of Christine, Joseph, Laura, Joanne and Patty. And he was the grandfather to Jimmy, Nadia, Alexis, Sean, Emma, Kathleen, Eileen and Stephen.

John took great pride in serving, for many years, as an officer if the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in New York City.

He also served as an usher at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Upper Manhattan for over 50 years.

At home, he spent many hours in his interests including cooking, electronics, ham radio and many others.

A wake will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, 10471 on Wednesday, September 24th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian of Burial will be offered at St. Elizabeth's Church, 268 Wadsworth Ave, New York, NY 10033 on Thursday, September 25th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Yonkers.
