Delfin Mojica O’Neill left this earthly existence on April 24, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents Paula and Felix Mojica, his son, Delfin Jr., and grandson Angel D Tussen. Delfin was born in Guaynabo P.R and as a young man, he worked hard in his grandfather’s fields until later when he began driving trucks for various companies.
He left Puerto Rico in 1970 to begin his career as a security officer for the New York Foundling Hospital which eventually became the Elizabeth Seton Children's Center. Delfin was beloved by his co-workers, however, the children at the facility loved him the most because he both talked and played with them to make them feel better. While working there he would constantly bring coffee to a nurse named Luisa Valentin who would eventually become his partner and wife of 43 years.
Delfin loved collecting and restoring classic cars and had a fondness for salsa and merengue music. Even though he was not fond of farming in his youth, he still liked to plant gardens in his backyard and took immense pride in them. However, his first love was always his family.
He is survived by his wife, Luisa Mojica along with his children Carlos Mojica, Ariel Mojica, Adora Mojica-Barry, Luisa Onco, and Jose Rosa. He leaves behind lots of grandchildren that were loved dearly by him. Delfin’s kindness and love was the greatest gift he gave to his family. May his spirit continue to motivate and guide us.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY 10471.
Deja muchos nietos a quienes amó profundamente.
