Mary Delia (Maureen) McConnell
March 25, 1929 – March 18, 2025
Mary Delia “Maureen” McConnell, 95, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025. Born on March 25, 1929, in Curragh West, Dunmore, County Galway, Ireland, Maureen was the beloved middle child of five, born to Michael “Iron” Murphy and Maryanne Murphy.
In 1954, she married the love of her life, Charles McConnell, and together they built a beautiful family. She was a devoted mother to Kevin, Jerry, Maureen, and the late James and Brendan. She was also a grandmother to Caitlin (Tucker Royall) and Colleen and a great-grandmother to Tucker and Theodora.
Maureen was predeceased by her husband, Charles, as well as her siblings Kathleen (Tim), Patrick (Kathleen), Michael John, and Joan (James).
Maureen loved shopping, loved to have family or friends drop by for a cup of tea and a chat, and really enjoyed listening to Irish music and the Irish News on Sundays.
Maureen will be forever missed and forever loved.
Family and friends may call at Riverdale-On-Hudson, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY, on Tuesday, March 25, from 3 to 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Avenue, on Wednesday, March 26, at 9:45 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
