George Tardibuono

February 24, 2025 Jeffrey Wiecek

It is with a heavy heart that we share that George “Sonny” Tardibuono, 91, went home to God on the morning of February 24, 2025. Born on October 21, 1933 in the Highbridge section of the Bronx to parents Marco and Ann, who will welcome him home in heaven. Sonny is survived by his wife, Florence, three children Christine, and her husband James, Catherine, and Joseph, his granddaughter Samantha, her husband Dakota, brother Michael, his wife Marianne and sister Margaret, along with many loved nieces and nephews.

Eldest Tardibuono, Sonny was a perfect example of an exemplary father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Sonny was extremely devoted in all he did in life, as well as dedication to his country, where he served for the United States Army. His hard work, and studies led him to his profession of being a dental technician, where he worked until he was 80, allowing him to obtain his own lab: Tardi Labs, and if you knew him he’d love to tell you a story, or a million, about his dear friend, and mentor, Dr. Pritz.

George was known for lighting up a room with his never ending stories, and genuine kindness. A lover of music ranging from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny was never shy to belt out his favorite songs. George loved sports, favoring old school football, even though he “would never root for a New York team.” He loved projects, though many close to him would question how his tinkered trinkets even functioned, but they did. His creativity never dulled.

Viewing will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 from 3 to 7pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, New York. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following morning at 9:45 am at The Church of St. Margaret of Cortona at 6000 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY. Committal will be private.
