Maureen Kearney

August 13, 2024 Jeffrey Wiecek

Maureen Kearney passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 13, 2024. Maureen was born in Waterford City, Ireland to Michael and May Kelly. The oldest of nine children, Maureen emigrated to America along with several of her siblings. Maureen’s first job in America was at First National City Bank of New York. She spent over two years as an air hostess for Capital Airlines and had many memories of the golden age of air travel. She later worked at Sperry & Hutchinson (aka, S&H Green Stamps). She met her husband Lawrence in Inwood and moved briefly to Riverdale after marrying in 1963.

She was a very gentle and kind person to all who knew her. Maureen especially loved being with family and hosted many get togethers at her apartment on Park Terrace East in Inwood. She is survived  by her children, Henry and Maeve, daughter-in-law Elizabeth grandchildren, Matthew and Emma  and sisters Rose, Pauline, Terry,  Breada and Peggy, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband Lawrence, her sister Caroline, and brothers Jack and Roger.
