Reverend Andrew J. Walsh

Reverend Andrew J. Walsh passed from this life on June 2, 2024, at the age of 87. Father Walsh was born on September 4, 1936, in Hackensack, NJ to Andrew and Maude (Maher) Walsh. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of New York on May 28, 1966. He received his bachelor’s degree in English from Iona College, and later went on to receive in master’s degree in Church History from Dunwoodie Seminary and College.

Father Walsh previously started his priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo, Dover Plains; and Holy Name Mission, Manhattan; he served as a faculty member at Cardinal Spellman High School. Father Walsh later went on to have a distinguished career as a U.S Air Force Chaplain and was honorably discharged in 1994.  After his discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he served as Parochial Vicar at St. James the Apostle, Carmel; St. Joachim, Beacon; St. Columbia, Hopewell Junction; and St. Margaret of Cortona, Bronx. He retired from the Archdiocese of N.Y. in 2011.

​The wake will be held at the O'Connor Residence Chapel, 5655 Arlington Ave, Bronx, NY on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Burial will immediately follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY where U.S. Air Force Military Honors will be rendered.

Kindly pray for the repose of the soul of Father Andrew J. Walsh and for consolation for his family.
