We regret to announce the passing of Gilberto Cuevas, age 84, on February 13th, 2024. He was born to parents Felipe and Maria Luisa, on April 1st 1939, in Lares, Puerto Rico. He is survived by his wife, Carmen, and his children Carmen (John), Melissa (Robert), his beloved grandchildren Ciaran, Dara and Robert, and loving nieces and nephews.
Gilberto proudly served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961. He and Carmen met in Lares, Puerto Rico in their youth and were married in 1967. They raised their two daughters in the Bronx, NY.
Gilberto worked tirelessly to raise his family and was dedicated to them. He instilled in his daughters the importance of an education and hard work and supported them in their efforts to achieve their dreams. During his downtime he enjoyed watching soccer, listening to old Spanish ballads, doing calligraphy and writing poetry. However, his greatest joy was watching his family grow and thrive. His loving nature and sense of humor were appreciated by many and will never be forgotten.
A service honoring the life of Giberto will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home Inc., 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY 10471 on Monday, January 19th, 2024 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Interment 1 pm Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery.
