Mary Ellen Kelleher (nee Flynn), 104, passed away November 6, 2024. A great friend and beloved family member, she is missed by many. After childhood in Leitrim, she lived in Dublin, Ireland before moving to New York, where she married James J Kelleher. She returned to Dublin for several years after his death. Her family was her pride and joy, along with her Catholic faith. In addition to her close relationship with her husband, she was a devoted mother to Dr James P Kelleher, mother-in-law to Bernadette (nee Harney), and grandmother to Jack and Sarah. She had strong connections with relatives in Ireland and in the United States. Fluent in Irish and English, she loved music and folklore. Outside of home, her roles included working as a buyer for a clothing retailer. She is predeceased by, among others, husband James, father Pat, mother Mary, sisters Frances, Kathleen, Breda, and brother Peter.
Reposing Monday, November 11th from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY 10471. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, 10:00 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church. Committal service will be private.
