Maureen Brigid Murray (née Hoey) passed away peacefully on November 21, 2021 at the age of 87 after a short illness. Loving mother of Siobhan Mason (Robert) and predeceased by her beloved son, Edmund.
A native of Knockbridge, Co. Louth, Ireland, she emigrated to New York as a young woman. Known to family and friends in Ireland as Briege, she is survived by her sisters Eileen and Brenda, and brother Gabriel as well as many nephews and nieces who will sadly miss their “Auntie Briege”. She joins her sister May and brothers Laurence and Peadar in heavenly rest.
Maureen was happiest when she was helping others, whether by babysitting, pet sitting, or painting a room. She spent her entire career at the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale, where she was well known for her energetic manner, retiring in 2000 after 20 years. Maureen was an avid reader, enthusiastic word search puzzler, and passionate fan of the New York Yankees.
Reposing on Friday, November 26, 3-7 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx, NY. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 27, 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Ave., Bronx, NY. Entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
