Mary Josephine Rice (nee Owens)

Mary Josephine Rice (nee Owens) 83 passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. Mary was born and raised in Manhattan by her parents James and Marcella nee McCormack. Mary was devoted to her loving husband Tom for over 61 years, children Thomas (Anne), Ann (Robert) and Patrick (Shelley). Grandchildren Robert Rice, Erin Dolan (Kevin), Bridget Rice, Conor Miller (jennifer), Dr. Kaeley Miller, Kieran Miller and Elizabeth Rice. Great Grand Children Braden & Teagan Miller and Charlotte Dolan. Mary is survived by her younger loving brother John Owens. nieces & nephews including Linda, Joseph, Terry, Karen, Rita, Michael, James, Brian, Billy, James, Brian, LIlly, Marcella, Many cousins. Predeceased by her sisters Ann & Marcella and Brother James.

Red headed Mary was loved by everyone who met her and she could be seen walking the streets of Riverdale daily. Mary was dearly devoted to the Catholic Church and she enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to offer her. Mary was an avid reader as well and would often exchange books with her brothers and sister.

Reposing Monday October 18, 2021 from 2-5 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass of Christain burial Tuesday October 19, 2021 at 10 am at Saint Gabriel Church, 3250 Arlington Ave. Bronx, NY 10463. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery Hawthorne, NY.

Due to COVID restrictions, masks are suggested, and time is restricted.
