Hayes--Elizabeth A., New York City, died peacefully on April 30, 2020. She was a delightful person treasured by those who knew her, and is survived by her sister Mary, brother-in-law Wayne, and numerous relatives and friends. There will be a private funeral service at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, Bronx, and a private burial. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. Liz graduated from Marymount Manhattan College and earned a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University Teachers College. She taught the third and fifth grades at Dutch Broadway School in Elmont, New York for 35 years. Liz loved New York City's cultural offerings (especially the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Opera), endless summers on the Jersey shore in Spring Lake, and her large and devoted family, for whom she was their beloved "Aunt Tish." In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to The Bowery Mission or to the Visiting Nurse Service of NY.
