Carmen Maria Fernandez entered eternal rest on May 17, 2017. She was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She was the middle child of Noemi Berenice Rosario and Rafael Maria Manana. She migrated to New York in 1952 with her 2 year old daughter Josephine. Her husband Osiris Fernandez was already in New York waiting for them. In her professional life she was a seamstress and did this for over 30 years. Carmen will forever be remembered by her family for being a very strong woman who fought up to the very end. Her son Rafael Osiris who was born in New York preceded her death in 1987. She is survived by her daughter Josephine Byrne, grandchildren Stephen Jr. and Colleen and great-granddaughters Alexa and Cameron.
Viewing will be held at Riverdale–on-Hudson Funeral Home on Monday 5/22/2017 from 5 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Interment at St. Raymond’s Cemetery Bronx, NY to follow cremation at a later date.
