Robin Ann Catalano

August 2, 2026 Jeffrey Wiecek

Robin Ann Catalano was born in Manhattan, New York City, on March 10, 1938, to Daniel and Marjorie Luge.

She attended Holy Name Grammar School, Cathedral High School, and Saint Mary’s Villa Academy High School. After moving to Riverdale, Robin continued her education at Lehman College and Bronx Community College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing, specializing in nephrology and kidney dialysis.

Robin began her nursing career at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital before joining Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, where she dedicated 28 years of service. She served as head nurse for the Montefiore Einstein Nephrology and Kidney Care Program, as well as the Pediatric Kidney Care Program at the Greifer Children’s Kidney Center. Through her knowledge, compassion, and commitment to her patients and their families, she made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Marjorie Luge, and her siblings, Daniel Luge Jr. and Linda Luge. She was the beloved widow of Joseph Catalano.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marie Gabrielle (Catalano) and Christine Catalano; her grandchildren, Jimmy Abenante and his wife, Holly; Lauren Abenante; Justina Abenante and her husband, Christopher; and Ashley Abenante Sgamboti and her husband, Michael; and her greatgrandchildren, Ava Sims, Arianna Sims, James Abenante V, Charlotte Abenante and Sophia Sgamboti. Robin had many passions. She loved to cook and was a collector of Italian majolica. She was also a champion table- tennis player, an avid swimmer, and a devoted lover of music.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, August 16th at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM.

In honor of Robin’s love of education and music, the family asks that donations be made to the Fret No More Foundation, an organization that provides musical instruments to underprivileged music students
