Mary Ann Ryan

Mary Ann Ryan passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday May 2. 

Mary Ann was the first of seven children born to the late Margaret and Terence Dolan. She was born and raised in Riverdale, New York where she attended St Margaret of Cortona Grammer School and Blessed Sacrament High School in Yonkers, New York. After high school she worked for The New York Central in Manhattan and while vacationing on the Jersey Shore with her friends, she met the love of her life Harry. They were married in 1967 and raised their family in Riverdale. She was blessed with a large loving family. Those left to cherish her memory include: her  three adoring children Henry (Linda) , Mary  Ann O’Connor and Patricia Ryan (Rich); Her siblings ​Patty, Kathleen, Theresa , Rosemary and Terence ; her grandchildren Ryan, Annie, Lena, Eddie, Henry, MaryAnn and Kieran ; and many nieces , nephews and cousins. 

Mary Ann was predeceased by her loving husband Harry of 51 years and her sister Peggy.

After raising her children MaryAnn went back to College and earned a bachelor's degree in Art History and a Masters in Library Science while working in the library at  Fieldston school in Riverdale, NY. 

She loved having fun and living her life to the fullest .Mary Ann grew up spending summers at the beach in Oakdale, NY, (The Camp), with her parents and siblings. She continued enjoying her summers in Oakdale with her husband and their three children.

After retirement Mary Ann enjoyed winters in The Villages, Florida where she made an amazing group of new friends .

Some of Mary Anns favorite activities included golfing , playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, riding around the camp, and hosting her annual 4th of July parties.

She will be missed by all. May she rest in eternal peace.

Reposing will be held on Thursday, May 7th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 8th at St. Margaret of Cortona Church at 9:45 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
