Beverly A. Margaritis, a dedicated educator and lifelong advocate for students, passed away on February 22, 2026, at the age of 78.
A true New Yorker, Beverly grew up in the Bronx, where after grammar school she attended the David A. Stein Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy (formerly J.H.S. 141). She then went on to graduate from George Washington High School in Washington Heights.
She earned her Master of Science in Special Education from Adelphi University and pursued advanced studies in Staff Development and Leadership at the College of New Rochelle. Earlier, she attended New York University, where she received her B.A in Sociology, laying the foundation for a career marked by professionalism, compassion, and service.
Beverly devoted her professional life to education in New York, serving with distinction in the New York City public school system. She was a certified teacher and supervisor, earning both New York State Permanent Certification, Special Education and a Provisional Supervisor Certification. Her career reflected a deep commitment to learning, leadership, and the development of both students and fellow educators.
Beverly was known for her dedication to special education, her mentorship of colleagues, and her unwavering belief in the potential of every child. She especially loved her time at P.S 49 Willis Avenue School in the South Bronx. Her impact will be felt for years by the students, families, and educators whose lives she touched.
Prior to becoming a NYC Educator, she spent 15 years in the Employee Health Service Department at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC.
She was the daughter of the late John Alden Snow and Esther Snow, and was predeceased by her beloved brother, Kenneth Alden Snow.
She was a loving mother to Kristine Alden Margaritis (57) and Kenneth Nicolas Margaritis (58); a grandmother devoted to her cherished granddaughters, Taylor Marie Rizzo (29) and Tiffany Alden Berman (26); and her great‑grandson, in utero, who was already deeply loved.
She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Patricia Alden Medla (19), who remains forever in her heart and memory.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY 10471. A prayer service is scheduled for 2:30 pm at the funeral home.
