1939 ~ 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jose M. Villalona, who departed this life on January 15, 2026 at the age of 86, in his home. He was born on March 19, 1939 in Castañuelas, a small town in the municipality of Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic. Jose immigrated to New York in 1967 leaving behind his four brothers, two sisters and his parents.
Jose settled in Washington Heights to raise his children with his wife Iris.
Jose was a dedicated brother, husband,uncle, father and friend. He was respected for his strong work ethic and regarded by many as a father figure. Jose worked in Riverdale for over 40 years and was well respected for his years of service. Above all, his pride and joy were his family here and in the Dominican Republic.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Iris Milagros Villalona, his daughters Raysa & Karina and his beloved grandchildren; Tiffani, Brandon, Javier, Mekai, Kiara, Kalani, Zoren, Kyle, Amelie, Isla and his daughter in law Naiky. He is preceded in death by his son Luis Rivera.
A memorial gathering will be held on January 22nd from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
