Jean Catherine Shanahan

Jean Catherine Shanahan, AKA Jeanie,  A loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Godmother and Friend, Passed away Peacefully on Thanksgiving Day Thursday 11/28/24. Jeanie fought a 2 year battle with Cancer. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 and wasn't given much time, but she beat the 1st round and was able to be here for some important Family milestones, such as her Granddaughters Wedding and the Birth of her Great Grandson, Owen.

Jeanie was born on 12/2/1944 in new York City and was Raised in the St Luke's Parish in the South Bronx. She is predeceased by her Parents Alice and James and her Step-Father Vinnie. Also recently predeceased by her Partner of 30 Years William Nueberger and her loving nephews Jimmy, Tony & Mikey.

Jeanie is Survived by her 2 Sons Patrick and Kevin Maloney. As well as Patrick's Wife Christine, their Children Terence and Nicole. Nicole's Husband Kyle and Jeanie's Great Grandson Owen.

She also left behind 6 Brothers and Sisters - Jimmy, Frannie, Richie, Michael, Joanne and Barbara. And countless Nieces, Nephews and Godchildren that she Adored.

Jeanie lived her entire life in the Bronx and was very proud of her time as the Cook at Molly's Bar & Restaurant on 204th St and Decatur Ave, where she was affectionately known as Miss Molly.

Jeanie was a loving caring person who would do anything for her friends. And even though she didn't have much, she was generous with what she had when she had it. She will undoubtably be missed by her Family and many Friends.

Jeanie will be waked Wednesday 12/4/24 from 4-8 pm. The funeral will follow on Thursday 12/5/24 at The Queen of Peace Chapel in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 11 AM.
