Mary Paino (née Onorati)

April 14, 2023 Jeffrey Wiecek

Mary Paino (née Onorati) passed away peacefully at the Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York, on Friday April 14th, 2023. Mary was born on November 20, 1927 in New York City to the late Frank and Theresa Onorati.

Mary was the younger of two sisters, her older sister Rose predeceasing  her in 2020 at the age of 97. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Angelo Paino (1983). She is survived by her son, Angelo  Paino, Jr., and her daughter, Joan Paino McShane; her grandchildren, Angelo, Prudence, Brigitte, Kerry, and Caroline; and by her great grandchildren, Emily, Anthony, Alyssa, Christopher, Aiden, and Lucia.

Mary lived in Brooklyn for many years where she and her sister Rosie  raised their families together in a warm and loving two family home.  Both Mary and Rosie were excellent cooks and every Sunday was a feast of Italian home cooking and love on Brighton Court.

In her later years, Mary moved to Riverdale in the Bronx where she lived with her daughter Joan. Together, they continued to create a loving  home and regularly welcomed the many children, grandchildren, and  great-grandchildren for sumptuous meals and quality family time. No matter how busy she was, she always made time to watch Wheel of Fortune. Mary lived for her family and would do absolutely anything for them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her!

A wake will be held at Riverdale on Hudson Funeral Home on Monday April 24th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A catholic mass will be celebrated in honor of Mary's life, at St Gabriel Church in Riverdale on Tuesday April 25th at 11:00 a.m. Mary will be buried next to her beloved husband Angelo at the Ocean View Cemetery in Staten Island at a later date.

Mary loved all animals and was forever sending money to help those in need. In lieu of flowers, please help us carry on her legacy by making a donation to the Bideawee animal shelter in her name.
