James Patrick O'Reilly

March 20, 2023 Jeffrey Wiecek

JAMES PATRICK O’REILLY (1959-2023)

It is with great sorrow that we announce James (Jim) Patrick O’Reilly passed away on Monday, March 20th at the age of 63. Jim was born to James and Joan O’Reilly on September 1, 1959 in Inwood. He was the youngest of two children. In November 1992, Jim married Margie McMahon and they raised two children, Tara and Kristen, in Riverdale.

Jim is predeceased by his parents, James and Joan O’Reilly, his in-laws, Frank and Kay McMahon, brother-in-law, Gene Quinn and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Hunter.

Jim is survived by his wife, Margie and their two daughters, Tara and Kristen, his sister, Tricia Quinn, and his grandson, Thomas Healy as well as beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jim lived in Inwood and moved to Riverdale in the ninth grade. In Riverdale he made lifelong friends who became family and developed an appreciation for adventure. He stood strong in his Irish pride and loved Ireland and all things Irish, especially the music. He was a proud member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 608 and a loyal employee of Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corp., and most recently, the High Ridge House in Riverdale. He loved playing golf and watching golf on TV, photography, coin collecting, music, telling stories and helping people. He was happiest leaving the city and driving his truck to his country house in Pennsylvania and spending quiet days with his family. Jim we will always love and miss you until we meet again.

A wake will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, located at 6110 Riverdale Ave Bronx, NY from 3 to 7 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Jim’s life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne NY.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Making Headway Foundation in memory of James P. O’Reilly.
