Teresa Farrell

Teresa Farrell was born in Ballyhahill, Co. Limerick on July 22, 1930. On July 13, 2022 Teresa passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Teresa is predeceased by her parents William Hastings and mother Margaret nee O'Connor. Loving husband Paul of Killala, Co. Mayo. Siblings Ann, Carmel, Mary and Michael. Teresa is lovingly remembered by daughter Hilary ( Timmy ) of Manhattan. Daughter Eileen ( Brendan) of the Bronx, New York. Teresa is also known as Nana is deeply missed by her cherished grandson's s Stephen and Michael. Teresa is remembered by her brother Patrick in Limerick, Ireland. Teresa was also the caring Aunt of her nieces and nephews in Ireland.

Teresa immigrated to the United States from Cobh, County Cork in Feb. 1951. Teresa worked in the Chancery office for 10 years as secretary to Cardinal Cooke. Teresa met Paul Farrell in 1961 at City Center and Cardinal Cooke married them in 1962. They took up residence in Washington Heights in St. Elizabeth's Parish and soon became the proud parents of their two daughters. They moved to Riverdale in 1977 and were happily married for 45 years when Paul passed away in April 2007.

 Teresa enjoyed taking long walks, cooking/ baking for her family and countless hours of sewing. Teresa was a devoted wife to Paul with his illness for many years, while always being there for children and grandsons. Teresa enjoyed working at Columbia Presbyterian with her co-workers in 1199 and continued working for the Board of Elections until age 91.

Reposing Friday July 15, 2022 from 4 - 7 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave. Bronx, New York. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday July 16,. 2022 at 10 am at St. Gabriel’s Church. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Yonkers, New York.
