Madeline Muñoz-Boria

June 12, 2022 Jeffrey Wiecek

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother Madeline Muñoz-Boria on June 12th, 2022. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Debra, Loraine, and Christine; her six grandchildren, Katrina, Dennis, Sara, Samantha, Rebecca, and John Michael; her great granddaughter Scarlet Rose; and her siblings Mercedes, Gloria, Josephine, Angela, Manny, Peter, and Vera.

Madeline was born on June 9th, 1940 to her parents, José Muñoz and Gloria Morales, and was raised in New York City along with her sister Mercedes at St. Cabrini Home in West Park New York. Her father, José Muñoz, a World War II veteran, would bring her and her sister to see their relatives during the holidays every year. Eventually she came to live with her aunt and uncle in Harlem on 152nd street and Broadway. Not soon after, she met the love of her life John in the same building where she lived, He lived there with his aunt and grandmother.  They got married in1962 and raised their family in Washington Heights, living there for over 30 years.

Madeline was a determined, hardworking, ambitious woman who worked hard alongside her husband to take care of their family. She worked as a cashier in retail most of her life in various retail stores. She was a devoted catholic, attending mass every Sunday and singing in the choir. She also enjoyed various hobbies such as sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She became very skilled, making various items such as baby layettes, blankets, sweaters, hats, and scarves. Later in life, she enjoyed doing paint-by-numbers, doing puzzles, and playing canasta. She also loved music and dancing.

She was able to retire with her husband to their dream home in Port St. Lucie, Florida in 2004. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who loved spending time with her family and making them laugh. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.
