Margaret Ann “Peggy” Cleary

December 25, 2022 Jeffrey Wiecek

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Cleary (nee Coyle) entered eternal Salvation on Christmas Day 2022, at the age of 83.  Margaret was born to William Francis Coyle and Ann Coyle (nee Devlin) on July 18, 1939 in East Hampton, NY.  She was one of two children.  On May 25, 1963 she married Joseph P. Cleary and they raised three children together in the Bronx.

Margaret is predeceased by her husband, Joseph and her brother, John William.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Diane Cleary and her sons, Joseph Cleary (Gwendolyn) and Father William Cleary.  Margaret is also survived by her granddaughter, Emily.  She was a loving sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Although she relocated to the Bronx after marriage, her heart remained in East Hampton where she summered and spent many a good time with family and friends.  Her smile was infectious and her sunny disposition bettered the lives of everyone she met.  She was always well put together and took pride in putting her best face forward.

Margaret spent many years volunteering at St. Margaret’s School as a class mother, lunch monitor and assisted at various school events.  During her last 13 years at the school she doubled for the secretary at lunchtime, noting that the Sisters of Charity believed having a person there was always better than a recording taking your message.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following charities:
