Karen Margaret Cunniffe

December 22, 2022 Jeffrey Wiecek

Karen Margaret Cunniffe (nee Murphy) passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the age of 83. Karen was born to Francis Murphy and Agnes Murphy (nee Conway) on October 20, 1939, in Bronx, NY. She was one of six children. On October 9, 1965, she married Vincent J. Cunniffe and together they raised four children in the Bronx.

Karen is predeceased by her grandson, Trevor, and great grand-daughter, Mary. She is also predeceased by her four brothers Frank, Kevin, Jimmy, Brian, and sister, Eileen.

Karen is survived by her husband, Vincent J. Cunniffe, daughters Karen Switzer (Patrick), Maureen McConnell (Stephen), Susan Duffy (Stephen), and son, Thomas Cunniffe (Christine). Karen is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Karen worked at Fordham University in Library Acquisitions for over 30 years. She enjoyed her time at Fordham, but was happiest to retire and spend more time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Words cannot even express what a wonderful woman she was. Karen’s patience and positive attitude knew no bounds. No matter what challenge she encountered, she dealt with it with humility and love. Karen’s Catholic faith guided her life until the very end and her strong belief in the value of human life was evidenced by her large family. Karen was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother anyone could ask for and will be greatly missed.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY 10471.
