Kenneth Edward Moriarty, 86, a life long resident of the Bronx, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday June 13th, 2021.

The son of Irish Immigrants, he was born in the Highbridge section of the Bronx on May 16th , 1935. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Manhattan Prep High School. He enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country in the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. He took great pride as a paratrooper, having completed over 30 jumps. On November 26th, 1960, he married the love of his life, Hannah O’Shea at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. After starting a family, they moved to the Bedford Park section of the Bronx, before ultimately settling in Riverdale, where they have resided for the past 45 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service as Tour Superintendent at the Bronx GPO.

A devout Catholic, proud veteran and Irish American, Ken was a member of the American Legion Riverdale Post, Knights of Columbus Pro Patria and Kerrymen’s P & B Association of New York.

Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and traveling, but was most happy when he was spending time with his family, whether it be barbecues, dinners, or vacationing in Lake George, Wildwood Crest and Daytona Beach.

Ken was the beloved husband to his wife of over 60 years, Hannah. Cherished father to Ann Moriarty, Ken (Anna), and Mary Brady (Brendan). Devoted Poppa to Christina and Nicole Moriarty, John and Kevin Grenawalt, and Kiera and Caitlin Brady. Survived by his brother, John(Jack) Moriarty and sisters-in-laws, Margaret and Helen O’Shea. Predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Moriarty, his brother Robert(Peggy), sister Mary Conroy(Patrick), sisters-in-laws Maureen Moriarty, Mary Conneely(Patrick), brothers-in- laws, John, Tom, Brendan, Paddy (Mary), and Crohan O’Shea. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

A true gentleman, always smiling, Ken will be remembered and deeply missed by all who loved him.
