John Lucey, 88, a resident of the Bronx, New York and native of Derinagree, County Cork Ireland, passed away peacefully at home on May 19th, 2021. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1956-1958 and again from 1961 to 1962. He was a carpenter by trade and a life-time member of the NYC District Council of Carpenters.
John is predeceased by his parents John & Johanna, his brothers Cornelius, Danny, Jerry and sisters Julia and Eileen. He is also predeceased by his son Liam in August 2018. John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lily (nee McKinney). He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Joanne (Kevin), John (Noreen), daughter-in law Jenny and Kevin (Lori). John will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jack, Christopher, Brendan, Connor, Erin, Ella and Leah.
To honor John’s life, family and friends will gather on Sunday, May 23rd from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx NY 10471. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, May 24th at 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
