Patricia O. Redmond, 69 years old, a lifelong resident of Riverdale, passed away on March 11, 2020.
Trish, as she was known, was born to Charles and Doris Redmond on July 21, 1950 in New York City. Raised on Riverdale Avenue in the Bronx she attended St. Gabriel’s Grammar School on W 235th St. and Mount St. Ursula High School on Bedford Park Blvd. She studied at Fashion Institute of Technology and then at Manhattan College with a focus on Radiology & Nuclear Medicine.
Trish was a fabulous mother to her son Michael. She raised him on her own with the help of her parents. She worked as a computer engineer for a few defense contractors before returning home to care for her parents. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She loved to travel & explore new places. She enjoyed the ocean & taking long walks with the dog. She had a generous heart, always willing to help friends and family.
Trish is survived by her son Michael Pontillo, daughter in law Jennifer & four granddaughters Ashley, Emily, Lindsey & Kayleigh. Also survived by her mother Doris Redmond, sister Nanette Niski of Portland, Oregon & brother Charles Redmond of Riverdale. Trish was predeceased by her father Charles, and her brother John.
Memorial Gathering Sunday, March 15th, 2020 from 3-6 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY, 10471. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Putnam Humane Society.
