Jeanne B. Dillon

May 16, 2019 Jeffrey Wiecek

Jeanne B. Dillon (nee Becker) died peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur J. Dillon. Jeanne was born and raised in the Bronx, attending Cathedral High School and graduating from Hunter College with a Bachelor’s Degree.  She married Arthur Dillon on July 4, 1953 while he was on leave from the Air Force. Jeanne was a dedicated teacher in the NYC public school system, taking great delight in instilling young minds with the reading skills they would need for later success in life.  She taught part time while raising her three daughters.  Upon her return to full time teaching, she also earned a Masters Degree in Education from the College of New Rochelle. Upon her retirement, Jeanne traveled with her husband in the United States and abroad, but home and family were always most important to her.   She enjoyed gardening at the family’s summer house in Sullivan County and at home in Fieldston.  Jeanne’s favorite pastime by far was spending time with her grandchildren, Tracey and Brian.  There was no event too small or distance too far that you would not find Jeanne in the front row cheering them on. Jeanne was predeceased by Arthur, her husband of sixty one years.  She is survived by her three daughters, Janet (Charles), Irene and Marian, and her two beloved grandchildren. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, Bronx, NY. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Obernburg (Sullivan County), New York.
