It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of Gloria V. Piantieri on April 16, 2019. Gloria was born on Valentines Day, February 14th, 1928 to Luigi and Rose Leccese. She was the second youngest of six children, Joseph, Margaret, Luke, Rosette, and Norma. She lived in Little Italy in New York City, where she later met her husband and love of her life, Anthony Piantieri. There they raised their two children, Anthony and Claudia, until 1970 and moved to Riverdale. Gloria was a true inspiration and role model. Her fabulous sense of style, her timeless beauty, elegance and grace made her admired by all who knew and loved her. She lived her life devoted to her family and friends.
Gloria leaves behind her two children, Anthony and Claudia (Costa), her son-in-law Michael Costa, and her beautiful grandchildren, the joys of her life, Michael (Mickey) and Cristina (Crissy). Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 22, 2019 from 2-7 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Gabriel’s Church, at the corner of 235th and Netherland Avenue, Bronx, NY. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
