Gloria Cioppa, 92, of Bronx, New York passed away peacefully on November 6, 2019. Beloved daughter of the late Gennaro Cioppa and Nora Cioppa (Née Boland), she is survived by her sisters Eileen O’Flanagan and Geraldine Aulisa. Gloria was a proud Auntie to Jerome, (Katie), John, (Shari), Noelle, Caroline, (Karl), Anthony, (Johanna) and Maureen; and Great Aunt to Emily, Jessica, Brian, Ed, Austin, Julia and Kevin. Our family is grateful to all of her caretakers and friends who have been invaluable over the years.

Gloria was a native New Yorker who graduated from Hunter College with two Masters Degrees. She was a passionate teacher of English literature for almost thirty-five years and had a great appreciation of art, theater, music, nature and travel. She loved to spend time with her family. When she had been able, Gloria enjoyed taking long walks with friends through Riverdale and swimming in the neighborhood pools. Throughout her life, Gloria was sustained by her Catholic faith. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Reposing will be held on Monday November 11 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday November 12 at 10am at St. Gabriel’s Church, off W 235th and Netherland Ave. Interment St. Raymond’s Cemetery.
