Thomas Daly

Tom Daly was born in Bawnaglanna, near the village of Currow, County Kerry to Thomas and Abbey Daly. He was the youngest of five. Tom attended Kilsarcon National School, and as a young man he participated fully in all the local cultural activities in the area renowned for its love of Irish music and dancing. He worked for eight years with various farms in Kerry and North Cork before Immigrating to England. Tom worked there for five years in various jobs in the Surrey area. There, he met and married the love of his life Bridget (Dolly) Sheehan, from Waterville, County Kerry. They move to the United States in the summer of 1960, and settled for a while in Connecticut, before moving to and settling in New York City. A year or so later, Tom started working as a bus driver with New York City Transit and joined the TWU. He retired from this job after 32 years in 1993. Tom was one of the founding members of the Fordham Irish Football Club (later changed to New York Celtics) in 1972. He coached various under age teams for most of ten years, and his outstanding contribution was recognized by the club when he was named Guest Of Honor in 2010. Tom joined the Kerrymen’s Association in 1982 and received the Distinguished Service Award in 2004. Tom and wife live in the St Gabriel’s Parish in Riverdale. They were blessed with three children: Abina in Tarpon Springs, Florida; Patrick who resides in the Bronx and Tommie, who lives in Chuluota, Florida. The center of their attention in recent years is their four beautiful grandchildren; Kerri Ann, Kelly, Thomas and Sean. Along with two great grandchildren Emma and Cody.

Reposing Sunday November 3rd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass of Christian burial Monday 10:00 am November 4th 2019 at St. Gabriel’s Church. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
