Mary Veronica Smyth, born September 13, 1932. Ballycastle County Mayo Ireland and died peacefully on May, 29,2018. She was one of 11 children, born to John & Mary Carey (née Maughan). She immigrated to the U.S. in 1951 and came to New York City, where she met and married James P. Smyth in 1958. They were married for 46 years. She is survived by her nine children, and their families. Mary & Tom Shortell, Patsy Smyth, James and Gayle Smyth, John & Jane Smyth, Anthony & Grace Smyth, Michael & MaryAnn Smyth, Catherine Smyth & Joe Moehlenhoff, Liz & Ed Sluke, and Brendan & Jennifer Smyth. She has twenty four grandchildren, Christine, Katye, James, Amanda, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Emily, Michael, Alexandra, John, Andrew, Jane, Anthony, Rachel, Jack, Mary, Matthew, Paul, Aidan, Isabelle, Nicholas, Holly, Ian, Abigail, and her great grandchild Charlie. She was an active, and devoted parishioner of St. Gabriel’s Church in the Bronx.
Reposing Thursday 2-5 & 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10 am at St Gabriel's Church. Interment St. Raymond's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St Jude’s children’s Hospital, Memphis TN.
