Ann Gaines

March 9, 2018 Jeffrey Wiecek

Ann Gaines took her final peaceful breaths on March 9, 2018, before joining our heavenly Father  and her  beloved husband Thomas. Born April 15,1930 Ann Hurley was the second of four lovely daughters begotten of Joseph and Mary Hurley. Ann was born in the  Bronx and grew up attending St Lukes Parish with her sister Patsy and the late Mary and Josephine. She served as the secretary to the director of music for the Archdiocese of New York under Michael Caprio for over twenty years. She helped to organize and oversee many major events for the archdioceses in the NY Tristate area; Including the arrival of our holy father Pope John Paul the second, and was a personal friend of high Holy Eminence Cardinal Timothy Dolan.

Survived by her devoted daughter, Ann Marie Cronin (Mike), and her two adoring and loving sons Michael (Janet)  and Thomas (Maria) . The Legacy of Ann Gaines lives on  through her Grandchildren; Kristin, Jaclyn, Fallon Ann, and Ryan. She will be forever remembered for her giant heart, generosity, a bold sense of humor, vivacity, wit, no nonsense attitude .  Her matriarchy extends far beyond that of a traditional bloodline.

Celebrated, well versed and revered as: Grandma, Godmother to four, Aunt Ann, and  Annie G  and finally NANA to her three amazing Great grandsons Christopher, Nicholas and Anthony.

Reposing Sunday, March 11, 2018 and Monday, March 12, 2018 from 4-8 pm both days at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY.  Mass of Christian Burial,  Tuesday March 13th, 10 am  at St. Patrick's Nursing Home Chapel. There will be a wake at the nursing home at 9 am prior to the mass.    Interment St. Raymond's Cemetery. The family kindly request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Saint Patrick Home for the Aged, to continue to ensure that others receive the level of service, care and comfort that our beloved Ann cherished for the last seven and a half years of her life.
