July 14, 1927 - October 31, 2018

Bronx, New York

Dorothy Morrison, of the Bronx, passed away on Wednesday at Calvary Hospital, surrounded by members of her family. She was 91 years old.  She was born in Greenwich Village to William and Anne Connolly, the older sister of Bill and Jane Walsh.

In 1950, she wed James Morrison and were married for 61 years until his death on August 23, 2011.  Dottie and Jim raised their children in Inwood and were parishioners of Good Shepherd. In 1980, they moved to Riverdale and became members of St.Margaret of Cortona. Dorothy worked at Jewish Memorial and Union Hospitals before retiring from Horace Mann School.  She was best known for her knitting of Jrish knit sweaters, a hobby that she found very relaxing.  However, nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her children, and grandchildren.  Dorothy is survived by her seven children; Jimmy  (Kathy), Donna (Mickey Kirby),  Nancy Mileto, Billy (Ann), Grace (Rich Finston), Kevin ( Ann), and Paul John. She was a cherished grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Dorothy was remembered as a dear sister-in-law and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, James, her son-in-law, John Mileto, her daughter-in-law, Hilda, her grandson Chris Kirby and many friends.  She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Reposing Sunday November 5, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave. Bronx, NY. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10:30 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Ave, Bronx NY. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
