Timothy J. Murphy

Timothy Murphy passed away peaceably on Friday December 1, 2017.  He was the first son of John Murphy (County Kerry) and Margret Devlin (County Tyrone). Born in New York City on August 26th 1926. Cherished husband of the late Ginny (nee Doherty).  Devoted father and father-in-law of Kevin (Elizabeth), Kathy Louman (the late Fredrick), Timothy (Ginny), Diane Murphy- Barko (David), Maura and John. Loving grandfather to John Louman (Paula), Erica Hafey (James) , Lauren Barko, Michael Murphy (Eleanna) , Jean Murphy, David Barko, and Julianne Murphy. Proud great-grandfather to Jack, Emma and Gavin Hafey.  Tim was an uncle to 25 nieces and nephews. Tim is survived by his brothers Jack Murphy (Alice) and Joseph Murphy (Jean) and sisters Margret  (Murphy) Kistner (Richard)  and Ann (Murphy) Hunt (the late Robert Hunt). Tim was a veteran of the US Navy, stationed in the Philippines during World War II.  He graduated from Seton Hall University. Tim spent his career with General Motors International. Family, faith and country were the cornerstones of his world.  Rockaway Beach was his favorite place .

Wake services will be held on Tuesday December 5th between 2:00 and 9:00 PM. Mass will celebrated on Wednesday, December 6th at St. Gabriel’s Church at 10:00AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please remember Catholic Charities and Wounded Warriors charities.
