Silas Ferguson Kelly

June 7, 1996 – June 22, 2016

Silas died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Boulder, Colorado, at the age of 20.  His parents, James and Lisa (Ferguson); his brother, Marcus; and his maternal grandfather, Lloyd Ferguson, and his many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins survive him.

Silas was born in New York City. He attended grade school at St. Gabriel’s in Riverdale, high school at Xavier and Stepinac, and was currently working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, with plans for further study in history and politics.

Silas loved Colorado, loved the mountains, loved being outdoors, and was an avid skier. A keen sports fan, Silas loved Liverpool F. C. and the New York Giants in equal measure. He played a mean game of racing demons, a card game at which he was unbeatable.  A comedian at heart, Silas collected friends wherever he went. He was loyal, trustworthy, helpful and supportive to all with whom he came in contact. Acutely aware of the condition of others, Silas’s spirituality was most on display when in the presence of those in distress.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28 at Crist Mortuary, Boulder, Colorado.  A viewing will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 the same afternoon.

A wake will be held on Thursday, June 30 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Riverdale-on- Hudson Funeral home in Riverdale, Bronx, New York, followed by a funeral mass at St. Gabriel’s Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1, also in Riverdale, New York.

Silas cherished the lives of all animals and animals loved him.  In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be sent to MaxFund Animal Adoption Center in Denver, Colorado.
