John L. Kenny, "Louie"

Death Notice - Louie Kenny peacefully passed away on Tuesday August 12, 2014 at St Luke's Hospital in Manhattan. Louie was 79 years old. Although Louie was born in the Bronx, he moved to Ireland with his 3 brothers and loving mother at the age of 2. He often shared his treasured childhood memories with family and friends. 

Louie is survived by his beloved brother James Kenny, Sisters-in-law Kathleen, Nellie and Kay. Devoted Uncle to many Nieces, Nephews as well as Grand Nieces & Nephews.  Louie was a longtime resident of 1606 1st Ave,NY,NY 10028. He loved his family, home and community. Louie served in the National Guard Fort Brag and was awarded a Medal of Good Conduct in 1962. Graduated with high honors from LIU in 1966.  While attending law school worked as a legal investigator at Bernard's Law Firm.  Louie never pursued his dream of becoming a world class lawyer. Instead, Louie helped his brother Pat run several successful businesses in NYC including the legendary Kenny's Castaways in the East Village. In his twilight years, Louie decided to do something adventurous in life.  Most people would have retired. Louie drove a NYC taxi cab. God bless you Uncle Lou! We'll miss your sense of humor and carefree spirit. 

The family is having the wake from 4-8 on Sunday August 17th at Riverdale on Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY 10471. Funeral Mass Monday morning 9:45 at St Margaret's Cortona Church. Burial to follow at Gate of Heavens in Hawthorne, NY.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
