Ann H. Foley

Ann Foley (née Hogan) died peacefully at St. Patrick's Home for the Aged on March 15, 2016 at age of93. She was a woman with many titles, some of which included wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Born in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx on February 21, 1923 to the late Alexander A. Hogan and Julia Polchinski Hogan.   Ann lived a long and full life filled with love and happiness.

She graduated from the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula in 1940, and Manhattanville College in 1944. Ann worked for New York Telephone company in the 1940's before leaving after two years to become a full time mother and homemaker.

On December 11, 1948, Ann married George J. Foley, Jr. who was the love of her life. Together, they enjoyed 47 wonderful years, and built a small but close-knit family.

Ann was a long time resident of Riverdale in the Bronx, and former resident of Woodlawn.

Ann enjoyed a long lasting membership at the Westchester Country Club, and was an avid bowler, golfer, and bridge player.

Ann found pleasure in simple hobbies such as crossword puzzles, gardening, listening to Sinatra and other artists of yesteryear, and needlepoint. She made many beautiful needlepoint pieces that her family will treasure for years to come.

Ann was a strong woman who battled and beat Ovarian cancer in 1996. She was admired for her strength and courage, as well as her ability to remain calm no matter what kind of hardship she faced. Ann's signature phrase when asked how she was doing was always  "Oh, I'm fine. Everything is fine."

Ann was a wonderful and caring woman who was loved by everyone who knew her. She was known for her flawless fashion, beautiful jewelry, her trademark red lipstick, her love for ladybugs, her love for anything chocolate, and her very charitable nature.
