Anne M. Kilsheimer

Anne M. Kilsheimer (nee Hamilton) died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 11, 2019.  She was pre-deceased by her loving husband James B. Kilsheimer III.

Anne was born and raised in New York City.  She graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor’s degree and then married James Kilsheimer right before his deployment as a Naval Officer to the Pacific theater during World War II. After the war, Anne and Jim raised four children and made their home in Riverdale since 1952.  As her children moved on, Anne returned to school and achieved a Masters Degree in Library Science from Pace University.

Throughout her life, Anne was the ultimate volunteer, giving freely of her time and expertise.  Over time, she was active at Riverdale Neighborhood House, as a member of the Royal Arcanum, in support of her husband who was on the Board of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and especially at St. Margaret of Cortona Church and school in Riverdale.

Family was most important to Anne and Jim and it grew to include four children, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  There were many family celebrations hosted at the Arlington Ave. house.  Anne and Jim travelled extensively, but they always returned in time to celebrate and attend each achievement of their children and grandchildren.  In her later years, some of Anne’s happiest moments were those spent on FaceTime each week with her great grandchildren Grace and Luke who would always greet her with “Hi Nana”!

Anne Kilsheimer was predeceased by her husband James, her son Richard (Susan), and her daughter Anne Marie Kendall (Richard).  She leaves behind her daughter Patricia (Robert), her son James, her sister Dolores Sedlack, eight grandchildren:  Dianne, Eileen, Carolyn, David, Martin, Holly, Kathryn, and James, and five great grandchildren:  Ella, Monica, Lillian, Grace, and Luke.

Anne was an inspiration to all and she will be greatly missed.
