William J. Nelan died on January 30th.  He is the eldest son of the late John and Kathleen Nelan. He is survived by his sisters, Patricia, Kathleen, Lucy, Mary Ann and his brothers Richard, John, Eugene, Kevin and Robert. He was  predeceased by his brother Vincent.  Billy was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.  He volunteered for many years at his Bronx parishes of Sacred Heart, Our Lady of Angels and St. Margaret of Cortona.   Billy was a fund raiser for Catholic Charities. CYO volunteer, Catechist, Eucharistic Minister visiting the home bound, usher and for many years sacristan at St Margaret’s. William is also survived by his loving cousins Noreen O’Brien and Nancy Murtha as well as many nieces and nephews.  Reposing Wednesday February 20, 2019 from 2-5 & 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, February 21th 2019 at 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Interment Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island.
